Il progetto dell'orto sociale

The project will start in an experimental form of social activity garden.

structure at the "House of St. Joseph the worker," we are building, on land adjacent the house, a field of surface mining in accordance with organic farming techniques.

By partnering with an expert horticulturist (Salvador Valerio) we made a laboratory continuous education, to learn the techniques of cultivation and care of the garden / yard.

may participate in the activity, in addition to the representatives of the structure (cooperative Abitamondo), all those interested in particular:

  • GAS volunteers of Caritas Pordenone,

  • guests of Casa San Giuseppe.

The farming activities will be conducted in an integrated manner with the provision of services :

  • cultural / educational (eg activities of GAS at CSG),

  • " caring" (possibility of rehabilitation and healthy activity for people without a job),

  • training and employment

in collaboration with public institutions (social services) and the third sector (eg new neighbors, Consorzio Leonardo, etc.)..


Agriculture social as well as to promote contact with nature, outdoor work, the manual, the consumer awareness and healthy mental and physical wellbeing, the ability to weave new relationships , will achieve some practical goals:

  • enhance the soil around the house, (with the possibility of making it available in future in different ways), and enhance the house itself, which could become a gathering place Caritas and the activities of the GAS meeting point for the community of other people also Vallenoncello;

  • produce vegetables for local consumption inside the house, for consumption by persons participating in the project for other beneficiaries identify;

  • experience organic farming;

  • experience of training courses aimed at providing employment on farms external

  • give guests the opportunity to engage in an unemployed 'satisfactory work.

Il progetto, nell'attuale fase sperimentale, durerà fino a ottobre 2010 circa, in modo da poter completare il ciclo della coltivazione e raccolta prima dell'invero.

La valutazione dei risultati del progetto ci permetterà di programmare eventuali (ed auspicabili...) nuovi sviluppi nel 2011.
